Buying guide: Carpets

A listing covers either the main cabin carpet, a section such as the front footwell, or the luggage area carpet.

A carpet is replaced after water damage, after a fire or a spill that cannot be cleaned out, or when the original has worn through at the driver's heel. Because the carpet is moulded to the floor pan, it will not interchange between body styles, and on vehicles with a floor console the cut-outs are specific to the console type.

Order by body style and by drive side. A carpet for a left-hand drive vehicle has the pedal cut-outs in a different position, and a wagon or SUV carpet extends further back than a sedan one. If the carpet is being replaced because of a leak, find and fix the leak first, then confirm that the sound deadening underneath is also being replaced.
