Buying guide: Armrests

The listings cover the complete armrest, the armrest assembly with its pivot and bracket, and the lid or pad alone where the manufacturer supplies them separately. On rear benches the armrest is often part of the backrest and folds down out of the centre section.

An armrest is replaced when the pivot has cracked, when the upholstery has worn through at the elbow, or when the internal bracket has bent so that the armrest no longer sits level. On vehicles where the armrest contains a storage compartment or a cup holder, the latch and the lid hinge are the parts that fail first, and they are frequently available on their own.

Order by side and by seat position. A driver-side armrest and a passenger-side armrest are mirror images and carry different part numbers, and a front armrest will not fit a rear bench. Colour again comes from the trim code. If the armrest is attached to a seat that has been replaced, check that the mounting bolt pattern matches.
