Buying guide: Trim Panels

This group covers door trim panels, side trim panels, rear trim panels and the seat side trim that closes off the frame. Door panels are usually supplied with the armrest and the switch bezel already fitted, or as a bare shell, depending on the part number.

A door panel is replaced when the mounting clips have torn out of the backing board, when the vinyl has lifted in the sun, or when a window regulator repair has damaged the water shield and the panel behind it. Side and rear trim panels are replaced after a load has punched through them or after a leak has warped the hardboard.

The critical fitment detail is the option content: manual or power windows, with or without a tweeter, with or without a courtesy lamp. Each of those changes the part number. Colour is from the trim code. On models where the panel carries the side airbag, the panel must be the correct airbag-compatible part, because the seam is designed to split.
